The "Chlorine smell" of pool water is not, in fact, due to chlorine. When chlorine hits water, some of it reacts with the water in the following way: 2Cl² + 2H²O ----> 4HCl + O²The small you get from a chlorinated pool is often the smell of the HCl produced in this reaction. What is the ΔH of this reaction? Just in case nobody was wondering, the answer to that problem is: *enter incredibly complicated Lewis structures* ΔH= (2 moles) x (240 kJ/mole) + (4 moles) x (459 kJ/moles) - (4 moles) x (428 kJ/moles) - (1 moles) x (494 kJ/moles) ΔH= (2 moles) x (240 kJ/ mole) + (4 moles) x (459 kJ/ moles) - (4 moles) x (428 kJ/ moles) - (1 moles) x (494 kJ/ moles) ΔH = 110 kJ
